Description

Paul Bertone, PhDThe development of single cell genomic and RNA-sequencing technologies has been revolutionizing our knowledge of cancer by providing insights into the origins of cancer to characterization of rare populations, e.g. cancer stem cells, to unraveling the molecular heterogeneity of cancer and the molecular evolution of cancer as it progresses or becomes resistant to therapeutics. The technologies have enabled a better understanding of the tumor microenvironment, including interactions between tumor cells, immune cells, stroma, fibroblasts, endothelial cells among others. There are numerous applications to support research in cancer biology as well as therapeutics research.

Goals

Advise investigators with experimental design for single cell analysis including implementation of technical plans as well as analysis of results. Advise on single cell genomics, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and bioinformatic analysis. Provide support for grant submissions.
