New URI Pharmacology Core announced by Angela Slitt, PhD

A new core facility will provide pharmacokinetic solutions for researchers at URI, Brown and beyond.

URI has announced a new Pharmacology Core led by Dr. Angela Slitt, Chair of the Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at URI and Professor of the College of Pharmacy. The core will provide pharmatokinetic assay and analysis services to researchers at URI, Brown and surrounding universities. Dr. Slitt describes the core as “a pharmacokinetic hub uniting industry expertise, practicing clinicians, and cutting-edge academic research - driving drug discovery from early stages through preclinical development.”

Services offered include analytic assay development with custom bioanalytic method development and validation of small molecules through Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy; pharmatokinetic modeling and simulation with In Vitro permeability and stability assays, in vitro dosimetry and in vivo extrapolation and predictions through SimCyp, Gastro++, Matlab and R; rodent In Vivo Single-Dose pharmatokinetic analysis through blood and tissue collection, bioanalysis and PK parameter estimation; and plasma and tissue binding assays of drugs and small molecules through rapid equillibrium dialysis and solid phase microextraction.

Consultations can also be scheduled to discuss research planning, experimental design, study conduct, data analysis, result interpretations, and manuscript preparation.

For more information, interested researchers are encouraged to reach out to Dr. Angela Slitt at angela_slitt@uri.edu.
